Weigh in

I lost a 1.5 pounds this week.  I contribute the weight loss to making healthier choices and drinking more water.

Exercise:  After a ten day hiatus I worked out twice this  past week.

30 minute walk
30 mintue on the Elliptical plus 20 mintues of weights

I have been following Courtney Crozier who is a past contestent on The Biggest Loser and she is starting a ten week summer challenge.  It started on Monday and this week challenge is to do 100 push ups for the week.    I have done 30 so far and I am about to do as many as I can tonight.

Here is the link if you want to join.  It just sounds fun and you can win prizes so why not???

I've  been working mornings at the restaurant which has been  quite an adjustment!  I usually work nights but  It's been great for getting errands done and seeing friends but getting up at 5:45 a.m. is not so fun!

Yesterday after work I had a visit with a college friend, she just had a baby six weeks ago. Her daughter is so  tiny and adorable!   Makes me want to have a one of my own :)  But Rob and I still want to wait a couple years till we start l trying.

Here is a picture of me/Maddy from yesterdays visit.

I also want to comment that I have my first follower!  I am very excited about this and I hope there will be more of you following in the future.  I have been following a lot of other blogs recently and I wanted to say you are an inspiration to me and help motivate me.  Thank you for that.

I am going for a hike with my sister tomorrow, pictures to follow.

What is the highlight of your week so far?

Singing in the rain.....

I had such a great weekend.   I worked a day shift on Friday which rarely happens (I  usually work Friday nights)  After work, I went straight to the gym, Rob and I  were going to "The Chicken and Rib fest" later that evening so I wanted to burn some extra calories before I ate a lot of calories!

Rib fest was packed there must have been at least two thousand people there!!    Some of the lines for the vendors were ridiculous but Rob and I were able to find one that wasn't too long.  Here's a picture of Rob while we were waiting to eat our delicious Ribs.

It was both our first time going and it was interesting to observe: everyone would buy there takeout Ribs and find somewhere to sit whether it was a bench, stairs or sitting on the ground.  It was like a huge picnic minus the grass.   I always enjoy going new places with Rob he is so easygoing and we truly have fun on our adventures.

I worked on the patio on  Saturday during the day the weather was amazing,  it didn't even feel like I was working because I was getting so much vitamin D!   At night I went  out with some friends downtown for drinks and dancing.

Today was a lazy rainy day but I was able to drag myself out for a walk with Rob.  We went around 10pm since the rain had stopped.  However when we got outside it was spitting, which was no big deal I even thought it was romantic but half way through it started to pour,  so instead of looking like this.

We actually looked like this:

Weigh in tomorrow I'm not sure what to expect but I know this past week I have slowly started to make healthier choices.

I made a yummy salad this weekend :  Red pepper, yellow pepper, baby cucumber and sun dried tomato feta cheese with a touch of raspberry salad dressing.

I also cut up some veggies and fruit for the week and boiled some eggs so I have no excuse but to eat healthy!   It always feels good to be productive!  I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before but Rob and I are not very inventive in the kitchen but we are slowly trying...

What is your favorite healthy meal to cook??

Feeling better

I was able to sleep through the night without waking up once with a coughing fit it felt wonderful!

It's been about a week since I  have worked out.  And I feel good enough to go tonight with  my favorite cousin!    It is always great to catch up with her well we are doing cardio.

For people who have been following my blog for a while now (Mom)  I am sorry for all the template changes I guess I was trying to find the right fit for me.  I had an "aha" moment today when I was rearrange my blog.   I always had the heaviest picture of me first and it was always staring at me, so I decided to put a recent picture of myself after finishing the 5km and I looked and thought I don't look half bad...  I'm hard on myself about the way I look so it was nice to have a kind moment.

On a side note:   included with my weekly weigh in I'm going to include all the exercise I have done for that week and write a few sentences about my eating too.

What is your best physical feature??  Be kind to yourself today :)

Weigh in: Stayed the same

I'm glad I didn't gain any weight this week and I am looking forward to see a loss next week.

It has been a sizzling couple of  days in Ottawa!  30C feels like 40C with the humidex!!   I had to work outside in this heat, opening beer after beer!!    To top it all off I have bronchitis and that makes it ten times harder to breathe.  I did however venture over to the doctors and got me some antibiotics and two inhalers.  I can breathe again without that ugly pink elephant on my chest or that is how I pictured it.   Being sick is the worst especially when all I want to do workout and lose weight but I will rest tonight and all tomorrow and hopefully I can do a light workout on Thursday.

I have been reflecting on my binge eating:  My question to you is, how do you let go of hurt feeling from a friend?    I didn't realize how much it was bothering me but it does.  Any suggestions would help?

I will be getting  a big order of groceries on Thursday, All South Beach friendly!  I can't wait :)

How is your week going?

I need a good kick in the butt!

I have been lazy and lost motivation with my eating ever since  I got back from vacation, enough is enough!    I am sick of loathing in self pity, guilt and disappointment every time I eat that bag of chips or chocolate bar.   I do not want to be obese anymore!  I have been struggling to lose 10 pounds and this has been a battle for the last six months.  I want to be losing weight and shed this 60 to 80 pounds off!   I have been struggling with my weight every since I was eleven years old.   That is over 21 years!   I am not waiting till Monday to eat healthy I am starting right now and taking charge of my life.  I am going to use all the tools available to me to not binge and get moving as much as possible.  I am going to avoid situations that make me over eat and learn everything I can about nutrition.   Here and Now it is going to change!

I have also decided I am going to make mini goals for myself.  Every three months I will have new ones to conquer.   I do not want the list to be super long so I am going to keep the list to a max of five things and I will check everything off the list by the three month mark.

This is not a blog how to gain weight :(

Had a great yoga session tonight with my cousin it was pretty tough!!  I was literally dripping sweat at the end of it!!!   I felt so good afterwards.  I know I have had  few weight gains in the past six weeks but that is going to change.  I wish it was was as easy to gain weight then to lose but I'm going to go to this!

A friend on facebook is doing P90X and she was asking people to join her in the three month challenge.  I'm going to think it over this week and see if I can borrow it from someone.

For the those of you who don't know what P90X is here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P90X

Reading Blog after blog

It is 3am and I really should be sleeping!    I am usually a night owl but I have to be awake for 7am to go to a Volleyball Tournament.  Don't get me wrong I am super excited about  it but I'm not looking forward to the 2 to 3 hours sleep.   ( I will bring my camera and take pictures to show you)

I have been reading a lot of weight loss blogs in the past week to try to get a grip on my weight.  These are the three things that I have discovered our similar.

1.  Blogger's either write down what they eat everyday or take pictures of it
2.  They all exercise 4 to 6 times a day
3. They all seem to stay very hydrated

I have been making a conscious effort to drink more water and you all know that I work out but of course there is always room for improvement.  Starting this Monday I am going to starting writing down everything I eat.  You should join me in this new adventure :)

On a side note:

My interview went well, I don't know why I got so nervous.   I was a bit embarrassed during the interview I was listening to to the information about the company etc. when I started to sweat,  Literally I could feel droplets forming on my forehead because of this  I got even  more nervous so of course I just continued to sweat.  I could totally tell Daniel (the men interviewing me) noticed but I was thankful he didn't say anything.

A little bit soggy, relieved and proud I finished the interview and hopped into my car turned the engine on and away I  went!   You would think, but when I turned my key nothing happened!    I had just left the interview telling him I had a reliable car ( I will need a car if I get the job)   Thankfully I have a mother and step dad that are retired so I was able to reach them and they were on there way.   Problem solved.   You would think but no with my scatter brain, while I was waiting, it was way too hot to wait in the car, so I leaped out of the car to wait and locked the door  because that's what you should do, right?   but there was one tiny problem the keys were still in the car...  Really???   So not only did I have to call my mom/step dad, I also had to call Rob to come with the extra set of keys.   No wonder I was nominated for "most likely to lock your keys in the car" in high school.

On that note, time for bed!

Forgot I had the tools

My cousin had to cancel our gym date she wasn't feeling well which I will allow this time j/k.   So instead I was going to go for a long walk along the water that is near my apartment but of course I delayed that too long and it started to rain with lightning.   I started thinking about all the different exercise classes I have taken over the years: spin, yoga, boxing, tai chi, pilates, tae kwon do, circuit training etc.  From these classes I have learned to do exercises that don't require any equipment or weights.  All I need is me!

My workout tonight consisted of

  • push ups
  • triceps push ups
  • sumo squats
  • squats
  • lunges
  • crunches

15 reps each exercise, and I rotated until the 25 minutes was up!  It was a quick workout that made me sweat and kept my heart rate up!

I now know when I don't have access to the car and it's crappy outside I can do this workout in my own living room!

No Excuses!

Sleep.... is not my friend

Ever since I got back from the Dom Rep my sleeping has been more frequent and less quality sleep.  I find  I am tired all the time and sleeping way more then I need to.  I started a new medication for my anxiety, I am hoping it will help with my sleep.  The weather is also the culprit, when it is cloudy and rainy I just feel like sleeping all day.

I just watch the documentary Food Inc. it has made me reconsider the foods I am eating.  I will do some more research and keep you posted!

As for Exercise:  Monday I played Volleyball for 45 minutes and Tuesday I did cardio for 40 minutes and 20 minutes of weights.   Pet Peeve: I was working out late at night and I  get stuck with a bunch of men  who don't feel the need to put there free weights back!  Very annoying!

Today I am taking an aerobics class with my cousin should be interesting.  It's called Sha'Bam!

I have an interview on Friday wish me luck!

I hope everyone as a great day!

Remebering something Oprah once said.....

Today I went over to my girlfriend's house to see her new townhouse.  While I was getting ready to go,  I was feeling a little bloated and blah.  I wanted to fell comfortable so I decided to wear my "fat jeans"  I slipped them on and realized there weren't as loose as they were in the past.  My first thought was "Rob must of just washed them??"  but  deep down  I knew that wasn't the issue.   Although they are not the jeans I wore when I first started my weight loss journey they are still the jeans that were too big a couple of months ago.

Like Oprah once said "its the 5 or 10 pound weight gain you should really notice and not ignore, because pretty soon it will add up to 20 or 30 pounds"   Of course this not verbatim but you get the drift.  Although I am disappointed about my jeans it was also a wake up call or a warning sign to do something about it.

I want to be at the finish line with my weight loss goals and to always challenge myself with new fitness goals.  But I have to put in the work.   I have to be accountable for what I eat everyday and how much exercise I do or else I will be that fat chick sitting on the couch going no where in life.  I just have to figure out how to continue and what will work from this point on.   I know I am an average person but I want this one thing in my life to be above average and for people to admire and be impressed with...  and hopefully one day soon.   I can help other people in the future!

What has worked for you to keep the weight off or to continue to lose weight??
